HAKOVO on Singapore’s new digital trade platform

Singapore’s Minister of Finance Heng Swee Keat presenting the NTP Certificate of Appreciation to HAKOVO Founder and CEO Takayuki Akahodani

Singapore, 1st October 2018 – Singapore’s Minister of Finance Heng Swee Keat officially launched the Networked Trade Platform (NTP) on Wednesday 25 September 2018.

The NTP is a one-stop trade and logistics ecosystem which supports digitalisation efforts and connects players across the trade value chain – in Singapore and abroad. It aims to provide the foundation for Singapore to be a leading trade, supply chain and trade financing hub.

Traders can tap on a range of trade-related value-added services (VAS) on the NTP, such as cargo freight booking, trade financing, cargo insurance, customs declarations and payment reconciliation. As of 26 September 2018, 25 VAS are available on the NTP and more services are being actively on-boarded. Four government services are also available on the NTP, and more will be progressively introduced.

It aims to raise productivity by digitalising the paper trail, boost competitiveness with trusted data, giving more accurate data analysis, and create opportunities for both logistics and digital trade related service providers by giving them access to the wider trading community.

“If we can stitch the disparate standalone systems or digital islands together, and bridge the government agencies and business community, the potential value to the economy is significant and transformational,” said Mr Heng in his keynote speech at the Official Launch of NTP.

Mr Heng also mentioned HAKOVO in his speech.

“The NTP is also creating growth opportunities for our local companies, in particular start-ups. I am glad to see Singapore start-ups like Versafleet, HAKOVO and Capital Match among the Value-Added Service providers on the NTP, providing services such as fleet management, global ocean freight services and invoice financing.”

HAKOVO Founder and CEO Takayuki Akahodani said, “We appreciate the recognition by Mr Heng. HAKOVO is participating in the NTP project for two key reasons. One, NTP easily connects us electronically with every company involved in the export out of or import into Singapore. And two, NTP is a Government system. So, our data and documents in NTP are secure and kept commercially confidential.”

The NTP Launch Event provided opportunities for HAKOVO to network with the attendees and other like-minded trade technology providers.

About Networked Trade Platform (NTP)

The NTP is a one-stop trade and logistics ecosystem which supports digitalisation efforts and connects players across the trade value chain – in Singapore and abroad. It aims to provide the foundation for Singapore to be a leading trade, supply chain and trade financing hub. Designed as an open digital platform, it enables service providers to develop new applications and foster innovation within the trade ecosystem.

By bringing players across the trade value chain onto a single platform, the NTP enables end-to-end digital trade. Traders can tap on a range of trade-related value-added services (VAS) such as cargo freight booking, trade financing, cargo insurance, customs declarations and payment reconciliation. These services will allow them to arrange shipments easily, improve cash flow, and better manage trade compliance, all on one platform.
