Singapore, 13th September 2021 – HAKOVO announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is signed between Philippines leading CUSTOMS Gateway INTERCOMMERCE NETWORK PHILIPPINES INC (INTERCOMMERCE) and HAKOVO to strengthen cross-border documents exchange into and out of Philippines.

The MoUs aim to enhance trade facilitation in the Philippines. INTERCOMMERCE and HAKOVO execute a joint Proof of Concept (POC) of the market potential “SMART CLEAR” Declaration by applying HAKOVO’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) system for the Philippines Market. This initiative is one of the Philippines government strategies, according to “10 Point Priority Program 2021” published by BUREAU OF CUSTOMS Philippines (BOC). We believe Technology and Data will play a critical role going forward in fulfilling the BOC’s vision and maximizing governance, both INTERCOMMERCE and HAKOVO will be well placed to fulfil this vision.

Leveraging HAKOVO’s technologies for Post-Import Declaration is to enhance the automation of future Draft Import Declaration Documents. All import-related documents will be digitized using AI technology to streamline customs clearance work, help expand the HAKOVO SMART CLEAR to ASEAN countries and accelerate digital cross-border trade for ASEAN.

INTERCOMMERCE President, Francis Norman O. Lopez said, “The collaboration with Hakovo on the conduct of the POC for Smart Clear in the Philippines would upon deployment in the Philippines, ensure compliance to Customs clearance requirements, adding another step towards streamlining trade processes and complementing InterCommerce’ cross border initiatives.”

HAKOVO® CEO, Takayuki Akahodani, added, “It’s our exclusive honour to work with INTERCOMMERCE for this joint POC. Digital data exchange driven by AI and ML is a game-changer for customer experience improvement, it will generate a new digital foundation and achieve scalability and data security of the country. Together, our initiative will contribute to the Philippines National goal of digital trade protocol.”
